SUNFLOWER madness :) - Monday July 24

WASSUP.

Still here guys!! Woohoo! Super happy about that, all the elders were joking that I'd be transferred because I've been here for a while now and I kept telling them NOPE I'm not moving yet and I was right:) although, this transfer there wasn't too much change. What's going to be crazy is in three weeks, some missionaries are leaving half way through the transfer and then two weeks after that so it's going to be craaaaazzzy! All is well for now though. Still me and Sis. Spicer conquering right bank Dnepr:) aha

So this week we did exchanges in Zap again! First time for Sis Spicer and is was really fun! Probably the highlight of the trip though was the drive there and back because guess what we saw?! SUNFLOWERS!! Just fields and fields of them! Millions! We were just freaking out! they were so BEAUTIFUL! AH. it was amazing. I mean that is one of the most famous beauties of Ukraine right there and we finally got to see them! And it never gets old either! I just love it.  (pictures don't do it justice )

Also cool thing happened in the morning when we were just about to go on the bus back to Dneper from Zap we went to buy some breakfast and I wasn't really feeling like much from ATB  (basically the little Walmart of Ukraine ) and I wanted something from the cafe next door so we go in there and classic Celine goes behind a line of people to see the rest of the food options and knocks over a plant with her bulky back-pack! And then clumsy, awkward person that I am but feeling super bad about knocking over this plant cause there was dirt all over the floor so I start picking up the dirt and putting it in the pot hahah it was actually pretty funny but the lady in front of us tells me in English, it's OK, they can do it. lol So while I stop and start choosing what i wanted to buy Sis Spicer starts to talk to her, she's from Ukraine but speaks English and she asks her what's with the badges? And she says we're missionaries for the Church of the Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and she says, I've been looking for a church! Anyway told her the sisters in Zap could meet with her and tell her more about church and answer her questions and she was super excited! So cool that we could be there at just the right time to meet her! ( sometimes little awkward slip-ups are a good thing:))

We also went out to Lena and Igor's again but this time with the Elders, to do service and it was a good time! We had shashlik! (which is BBQ) and soooo good!

I sang in sacrament yesterday and got my companion to film it for y'all :)

HALF WAY thru?!? (July 31)

Yo

Have y'all heard the song "Workin" by Jamesthemormon and David Archuleta? If you have I would recommend to go YouTube search it when you can;) If you didn't know it's actually about missionary work! .. And I'd like to think that was our theme song for this week hahaha jk idk man , we were way busy all week, booked up with meeting with members and investigators etc, it was awesome! I love it, although it makes time go by even faster!

Speaking of time... oh yeah I freaking had my HALF WAY mark this week!! What?! It's was good day, actually it was spent mostly inside because we did studies and weekly planning ( because it was the only time we had to do it the whole week because we made so many other plans) and we were also fasting lol but that was a good way to spend it tbh and it ended off swell. Also where we went to a sweet member's home, ate a little different honey dew melon (which apparently you can make a honey out of..) and held their chinchilla!! (SO soft , sorry Benny maybe even softer than you! aha ). Also there was a thunderstorm! ( I love thunder storms ) and we celebrated after with homemade Oreo milkshakes:)

SO weird though that I already hit my 9 months!!! Like what the even...?? It's been a great nine months though and the next 9 will be even better!!

Btw, the reason why were fasting that day was because we've been teaching this 16 year old girl named Alyona who is AMAZING, her babushka (grand mother) is a member and she lives with her in the summer but she goes to school is Russia for the rest of the year and her dad doesn't really want her to be baptized. She really wants to be baptized! And she knows everything because she was taught last summer but didn't get to baptized before she left. She asked us to pray for her and for her Dad's heart to soften so we decided to all fast together on Wednesday. We're still not too sure what's going to happen, especially because she's going to a youth conference next week and then will soon to back to Russia but keep her in your prayers, that she'll be able to be baptized soon! We really want her to be able to because making that covenant and getting the gift of the Holy Ghost will only help her throughout her school year!

Anyway I love you all, keep praying, PRAYERS WORK, I miss you all, the Lord's work is going forth!

Auntie Sister Horne:)) + Zone conferencia

Hey Fam

So first off probably the highlight of my week was getting the news (Sis. Sullivan called me ) that my first baby niece was born!! AHH SO happy! I love being an aunt! :)))

Sad I won't be able to meet her until she's grown quite a bit.. but I'm so excited to meet her when I do! And the sacrifices we make to serve the Lord are always worth it.

We had zone conference this week! It was awesome as always! It was great to see everyone again and catch up ( like Sis. Savran- turns out we don't get to see each other as often as we  thought we would ) Learned a lot. A lot about how we should be more bold- this message that we have is the Greatest thing we could Ever give to people, we shouldn't be afraid to share, especially with our friends and those we love. It makes sense really; This gospel has brought so much joy and peace in my life, why wouldn't I want everyone else to have that too?! For some reason though it's going to still be something a little scary and we all just need to overcome that ( yes even missionaries struggle with fear of rejection ) but the joy that comes from seeing our friends receiving the same  joy we have is so awesome! We also talked about always having the Spirit with us. I sang a duet with elder Montgomery for a musical number in zone conference. Also a unique thing we did this time was Sister Sullivan had all of us do a high intensity work out afterwards! hahah it was super fun. Definitely never thought we would do that all together at a zone conference but hey we gotta stay healthy too;)

We painted a fence on Saturday! And one day we baked cookies and wanted to surprise the relief society president because she's been having a tough time lately and so we just tried to find her house based on what I know and the map and we took quite a few marshrootkas, tranvai's etc lol but we found it, then we found out she was still at work.. but then we got lost again but found her work the next day! What makes it all worth while was that she was very appreciative of them:)

Felt like everyone was so busy this week it was hard to meet with our investigators but it was still good and we pray Sister Spicer and I still have another transfer together! -transfer calls are this week- super weird.

With love,

Sister Horne

Happy 4th :) Let your light SHINE

Priviet!! ( Hi! )

So I had another sweet week here! Time is going by so fast though, I can't believe we're almost done this transfer...

I hope y'all are having an awesome time eating poutine and rabbit pizza (nooo don't actually do it, not Benny!:0) at the good ol' Calgary Stampede!! This week we celebrated July 4th a little by wearing red white and blue and eating.. corn on the cob!! (YUM) - apparently Ukraine is the only European country that does that too! ( #blessed ) We also tried to make corn bread but it didn't turn out that good.. Thank goodness, it wasn't as hot this week!! It cooled down and is basically perfect now, rained a little - it's funny though cause Ukrainians seem to never be satisfied with the weather aha. And sometimes just a little rain keeps them from coming to church... but I still love it so much of course! It can be frustrating sometimes but it's also kinda funny.

Met some new friends this week. A girl from the English practice we subbed for who we've started teaching and also a girl we met on the street inviting to English class who's super nice. She came to our game night we have and after said to me " I just loved being here with all of you! I had such a good time"

Also last night we made bubbles in the park again and I started talking with this older lady who was with a kid she nanny's for and she was super nice, we talked for a long time and she told Sister Spicer and I that when she saw us we had a light around us, that she didn't even need to talk to us to know that we were good people, she could just tell right away. And that it was so good to talk to us and that the elders were such wonderful boys too. She was just so amazed and happy to meet with us. So that was sweet! We're going to hopefully see her again this week, I want so bad to explain to her why we're so happy and that she can have that same light in her life, through the restored gospel of Jesus Christ! Guys, people who are looking for light will notice the light of Christ within you when you are living your life striving to follow the teachings of Christ, so let your light shine! Matthew 5 :16

Heavenly Father is continuing to bless us here everyday because of our obedience and I'm so grateful! I'm also super thankful to be here among some of the coolest people I know, super blessed.

Love you! Peace.

Remember that tree outside our window in the spring that was so pretty with flowers " Popcorn popping on the apricot tree" well now it has apricots! and we can just open the window and pick them whenever we want! It's amazing. I love Ukraine. there's fruit trees everywhere
